5 Not-So-Known and Quick Tips for Defrosting your Freezer

The layers of piled-up ice in the freezer occupy the already compact area and those formed igloos reduce the efficiency of the freezer. These layers mountain up fast, especially in the rainy and winter seasons. Most of us usually turn off the freezer to clear these icebergs. But, it consumes a lot of time and also does not give impressive results.

Check these five not-so-known tips to defrost your freezer!

1.Use a portable hair dryer and pump hot air into the freezer to fasten up the melting process

Set your hairdryer at the highest temperature and start blowing the hot air into your freezer. The hot air circulates inside and catalyzes the melting speed. Ensure that the hot air is directed towards the layers of ice instead of the plastic insulation to avoid damage.

2.You can also use a portable fan or vacuum cleaner instead of a blow dryer to ease the process

If a blow dryer is unavailable, a portable or vacuum cleaner can be utilized for the same purpose. However, these equipment do not pump in the hot air themselves. Thus, this method serves good only when the room temperature is warm..

3.Place hot water containing pans or bowls on the shelves to bolt up the defrosting

One simple and effortless technique is to place pans or bowls filled with hot water. These warm bowls pump the heat to the layers of ice and bolts up the defrosting process. The results are quite fast in this procedure, and you can see your freezer ice-free within minutes.

4.Use a heated blunt metal spatula to clear up the sidewalls of your refrigerator

Usually, the removal of piled-up ice layers from the floor is easy when compared to the walls of the refrigerator. This effect is due to the large surface area and horizontal availability of the level. Thus, a heated metal spatula will help us better in clearing the sided mounts. Ensure that the metal spatula chosen is blunt enough and does not cause any damage to the inner insulating walls.

5.Scrape up the ice using a plastic or wooden spoon until the ice melts down completely

Scraping is one of the most used techniques in clearing the ice but requires a lot of your physical effort. In this method, a wooden or a plastic spoon is utilized. The layers of ice are scraped one after the other using the tool.

Safety Precaution: Irrespective of the technique you chose from the above, always ensure to unplug your appliance before the cleaning ordeal. Your safety is as essential as your clean appliance!
